PlaudFree 0.8.1 is a macOS app for importing recordings and creating transcripts and summaries. The app does not require an account and has no advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs. The developer operates no backend receiving app notes.
The optional website account pages use Clerk for sign-in. If you choose to use them, Clerk processes the login details and account identifiers you provide. PlaudFree stores a user identifier, optional display name, and desktop session records for account and device management. These website records are separate from the macOS app’s local recordings and notes. Contact support to request access to or deletion of PlaudFree account records; Clerk may also handle your account data under its own policy.
Copies of audio, transcripts, summaries, projects and settings are stored in this Mac’s app container. API keys are stored in macOS Keychain and excluded from JSON configuration snapshots, note exports and app logs. You control files exported to your chosen location.
Import only recordings you have the right to use and process. Where a recording contains another person's voice or personal information, obtain any consent or other lawful basis required in your location. You choose whether to use cloud processing for each task.
Whisper processes audio locally. Downloading weights contacts Hugging Face, which can receive your IP address and ordinary request information. Ollama connections use loopback only and reject identified cloud models; you remain responsible for how your own local service is configured.
With your permission for each cloud task, audio is sent to your selected Alibaba Cloud Beijing/Singapore, OpenAI or Grok transcription service. Transcripts, template prompts and enabled personal background/preferences are sent to your selected Alibaba Cloud Beijing/Singapore, OpenAI, Grok or DeepSeek summary service. Credentials are sent only to the selected provider. API Check queries the provider’s model list with credentials; it sends no recording or note and does not generate content.
The app identifies the recipient, domain and payload before each cloud task. You may cancel or use local services. Cancellation sends no new task, but an already transmitted request may still be processed or billed. Providers may associate requests with the account owning the API key and log IP addresses, requests and responses. Each third-party API service is operated by its provider. Retention, processing locations, training use and deletion rights depend on your applicable API agreement; PlaudFree makes no promises on the provider's behalf about these matters. Consult the API agreement for the provider you use; consumer-chat privacy policies may differ.
Local data has no automatic deletion deadline. Trash retains the original audio and text; this version has no permanent-empty action. Previous record/configuration backups may remain. You may remove keys in Settings; uninstalling may leave container data, exports or Keychain items. Export anything you wish to keep before contacting support for container and backup cleanup instructions. The developer cannot remotely delete local files. Contact the relevant provider about data already transmitted. Avoid sending unnecessary recordings, notes or keys to the support email; information voluntarily sent there also passes through email providers.
Cloud traffic uses system HTTPS; local Ollama uses loopback HTTP. The app uses the macOS sandbox and Keychain, without promising protection against a compromised operating system or user-configured forwarding.
